Don't Look At Me is a performance in which I walked throughout vancouver wearing a neon sign reading DONT LOOK AT ME. During the duration of this performance I considered the act of wearing a heavy piece of artwork for over 4 hours in high heels and a dress, carrying weight and discomfort within beauty, vanity, and the simultaneous rejection and solicitation of gaze. In active conversation with the performance histories of women artists and social intervention, this work aimed to actively disrupt the dichotomous discomforts and pleasures held within the seeking, peeking and gazing upon the femme body.
